It cracks me up how Joan Crawford spoke of being healthy, when she drank like a fish and smoked like a stack. She was always trying to be this athlete, but ignored a key element: “no smoking or drinking. ” I read the book she wrote and she was such a perfectionist in many areas of her life, including her very strict diet to keep her waist line slim, but she did that by practically starving herself, drinking and smoking; not to mention all the coffee she consumed throughout the day. Lucille Ball and others of their time were the same way. Funny how no one really noticed it back then or questioned it, but nowadays everyone would be laughing at Joan touting how healthy she was and in shape. She was lucky to have good genes.
